Bible (Turkish)

The Bible is the story of God’s love for humankind. It is a story played out over thousands of years—and yet as true today as it was two-thousand years ago. This modern-day translation of God’s Word makes it easily accessible to any contemporary reader who wants to learn about God’s mercy and His eternal plan of bringing back His long-lost children.

The Turkish Bible has a rich history that reflects the linguistic and cultural evolution of Turkey. The first translation into Ottoman Turkish took place in the 17th century, but it wasn't until 19th century that the first printed edition appeared. In the late 20th century, significant language reforms, including a change to the Latin script, necessitated a new translation of the Bible.

The Translation Trust (Yeni Yaşam Yayınları) joined by the Turkish Bible Society worked to create a translation that would be understandable in contemporary Turkish. The complete Bible was dedicated in 2001, reflecting the language that had evolved significantly over sixty years.

This Bible is part of the modern translation effort, offering a version of the scriptures that are accessible to the contemporary Turkish readers, taking into account the significant linguistic changes that have occurred over the past century.
